Our Instructors & Staff Members
Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the art of Taekwondo and other martial arts and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as teachers and also mentors.
Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students. Here are a few of Southern Maryland Martial Arts's instructors and other staff members, starting with Scott Fiorillo:
Scott Fiorillo (Taekwondo Chief Instructor / Owner - LaPlata Location)
Mr. Fiorillo has been studying Martial Arts for 20 years and teaching for over 11 years. He holds the rank of 5th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. In addition to teaching at the two academies, Mr. Fiorillo also finds time to volunteer his energies to helping Charles County School children. He is a mentor with JC Parks Elementary and frequently teaches the benefits of Martial Arts training at schools throughout Charles County. He serves as the Maryland Association Chairman for the Amateur Athletic Union Taekwondo program and has attained the highest certification of "AA" as a referee in the AAU Taekwondo organization.

Jeremy Gray (Head Instructor / Owner - Bryans Road Location)
Mr. Gray started training Martial Arts at the age of eight and is now in his 22nd year of training. He holds the rank of 3rd degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do and 4th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. He has competed and won numerous state and national championships over the past several years, most recently winning First place in the 2010 AAU National Taekwondo Championships (Sparring - Middleweight Division)

Sean McBroom (Jujitsu and RAPESTOP Chief Instructor)
Mr. McBroom holds the rank of 6th degree Black Belt in Goshin-Jitsu and is an expert in the areas of self-defense, and women's rape prevention. He also holds the position of Maryland AAU Chairman for Jujitsu and Judo. Mr. McBroom has taught self-defense to numerous people and several Government agencies including: The Coast Guard, Border Patrol, and several Police agencies. His RAPESTOP classes have been credited with preventing potentially life threatening situations by the women who have participated in the program.
